Both a blessing and blessed

We know that our members are working hard to be a blessing to others. You give so much of yourself to help advance the cause of Christ. But what about your own needs? You can’t keep pouring into others if your own pitcher is empty.

That’s why we’ve begun a new feature on the Web site: Rhythms of Grace is our invitation for you to follow Jesus’ instructions in Matthew 11:29—“Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace” (The Message). Each week we will be inviting you to spend a few minutes in a peaceful time of simply being with Jesus and drawing nearer to the One whom we follow. Your ministry may require you to spend parts of your life like Martha. We hope you will mark your calendar to check the home page each week, and allow us to lead you into a few moments of life like Mary.

Getting help when you need it

Church Volunteer Central has always been about giving you the help you need when you need it. That’s why so many of our resources are online, so that you can get to them at any time. That’s why we also have the member forum, so you can share your thoughts with other members whenever you like. But what about when you have questions about the Web site itself?

At the top of each page, you’ll find a new navigation link. Click on and a window will open with detailed instructions on how to use our Web site. And if you’re new to the Internet, you may want to start with the entry in the table of contents on Using the Internet. That takes you to our Web tutorial, which will take you through the basics of Web browsing and have you using the Internet like an expert in just five minutes!

What do other volunteer leaders think?

At this point in the election year, you may have had your fill of polls! But we hear so much about them because they’re an indication of how most people feel on a particular subject. At Group’s Summits, we frequently hear that one of the reasons people come is to get the opinions of others on topics of importance to them.

So we’ve decided to start our own weekly poll to help us understand your thoughts, and to help you see how volunteer leaders across the country feel about a topic or handle an issue. The member home page has a new box at the bottom of the left column that shows the current week’s poll. Once you’ve submitted your response, you’ll see the tally of responses from others.
