Growing to Serve You
We are delighted to announce the hiring of a new volunteer leadership consultant for our members. Sharlene Crutchfield has twenty years of ministry experience, most recently at Zoe Christian Fellowship in Whittier, California, where she directed the children's ministry. In addition to her leadership at the local church, Sharlene has organized and served in numerous outreach ministry projects in California, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Mexico, and South Africa. She is a noted speaker with Urban Ministries and other conferences.

Remember that our consulting team is here for you! We want to help you with all volunteer leadership issues you face. Our goal is to help you succeed so your church can make a greater impact in God's Kingdom. We'll help you as little or as much as you need.

Please contact a Church Volunteer Central equipping ministry expert if you have questions regarding:

  • Developing a biblical foundation for volunteers
  • Volunteer processes
  • Volunteer recruiting
  • Screening practices
  • Background checks
  • Training resources
  • CVC site navigation
  • Interviewing
  • Motivating and energizing volunteers
  • Keeping volunteers coming back for more
  • Risk Management
  • Redirecting ineffective volunteers
  • Matching gifts with ministries
  • Any other volunteer situation

You may even contact a CVC Consultant to discuss a problem, share a joy, or work out your frustration! Call 1-800-267-9040, and someone will be there to listen to your concerns Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm MT.

All phone consultations are completely confidential, and we'll stay on the line with you as long necessary! Your CVC consultant should be the first person you call when you have a decision to make!

Who Am I As A Leader?
We have said repeatedly that we can't call on you to become equippers of your people unless we're willing to equip you to do that. That's what Church Volunteer Central is for, after all! So in March, we moved into a new area designed to make it even easier for you to get the help you need: we released Who Am I As A Leader?

This book and CD-ROM give you everything you need to conduct a leadership workshop in your own church! We included detailed preparation steps, including a checklist for the days leading up to your workshop. There are tips to help you facilitate this workshop in a way that brings real growth in your leaders as individuals and as a team. There is a detailed facilitator's guide to step you through each minute of this interactive experience. We've included handouts for the participants, in both print and electronic form. The CD also has a complete slide presentation for use during the workshop.

Who Am I As A Leader? will help everyone in your leadership team discover their leadership style and their personal interaction/social style. Then they'll get to know each other so they can see how to use those styles to work together.

You may not be able to send all of your leaders to a conference, and some topics like this are better done together as a team than through one of our online training classes. Church Volunteer Central is delighted to offer another way for our members to continue to develop their skills as equippers of the body of Christ. Summits
Those of you who weren't able to make it to our five-day equipping conference in March missed an incredible experience. It was a great time for growing in our understanding of what God has called us to do, and an even better time for getting to know others around the country in ministry. As an association, we always enjoy opportunities for our members to associate with each other.

With that thought in mind, we're delighted to announce that our members will receive a discount to the Effective Presenting Skills conference in Loveland, Colorado, April 25-28. Strengthen your skills to persuade, entertain, motivate, and delight an audience. If you're ready to take your speaking skills to the next level, this summit experience is for you! Join Thom and Joani Schultz for this interactive workshop where you'll learn-and experience-the powerful keys to moving an audience.

  • What makes a great presenter
  • Developing your own personal style of speaking
  • How to design an impactful presentation
  • Avoiding common speaking pitfalls

"Although humbling and challenging, it was the single best learning experience that I have ever had! Truly life changing!"
-Kelli Frantick, Apollo, PA

For more information, including the members' reservation code you need to get the discount, see our national events page.
